How can you expect to reach a dream that you haven't defined?
And the beauty is, your dream is yours to create! It's not to be dictated to you although some may try to do just that. But you aren't held to the dreams others make for you... you are free to design your own.
You hear people talking about how great their run was and how good they feel afterwards. And so you have decided you want to try going for a run, but you don’t run often or have never tried it before. Or maybe you are not sure if you doing it right!
Not to worry, I have some easy and helpful tips to get you started. Remember this: running should be enjoyable! Running should get your heart rate going, make you sweat a little (or a lot) and boost your energy, vitality, and self-confidence.
How do you relate to food? If your relationship with a friend was anything like the way you relate to food—extreme, inconsistent, punishing–you probably wouldn’t invest too much energy or time with that particular person, would you?
If you’ve opened up this article, I’m going to hazard a guess that you’re stuck in a rut of thinking negative thoughts and getting negative results. Maybe not terrible results – but not the results you want. And maybe you’re not totally down on yourself – but you find yourself being critical of the person in the mirror more than you’d like. Every now and then we might find ourselves in a lousy mood. We jump up high and down low on a roller coaster of those mood swings. Whatever the reason may be, it's not a great idea to stay hostage by such a dreadful emotional state. Knowing your "Why" is essential. And we should start with motivation.
What is motivation? Why is it so important to be motivated before we even think to do just about anything? Can we buy that universal solution in a store? What hides behind motivation? What drives it? And what do you do when your motivation is about to dry out?
Meditating can be as simple as you stopping for a few moments each day to just breathe. You could even do it whilst you boil the kettle, doing the dishes. Or just plonk yourself on the floor of the bathroom just before taking a shower. Or you could carve out ten minutes before you jump into bed each night or find ten minutes on your lunch break.
The benefits of doing so far outweigh running round like a headless chicken, feel stressed or out of control!
With the little strip of carpet between my bedroom wall and the end of my bed, I began my home yoga practice guided by YouTube videos and the reflection of myself in the floor-to-ceiling mirror of my closet. At first, I watched myself in the mirror as I moved through the poses because I wanted to make sure I was ‘doing it right.’ I wanted to perfect my poses so they could look as graceful as my yoga instructor on YouTube.
Recently I've been thinking about times when we are judgmental of others. Why does it take so long to recognise that if we are judging others there is a little part of us that wants to be more or less like them?
