I get up every morning and it’s going to be a great day.
You never know when it’s going to be over so I refuse to have a bad day! – Paul Henderson
So I woke up in the morning and I thought to myself about how lucky I was. This thought of appreciation about simply being able to breathe, to think and to feel… came out of the blue. It’s not that often that something philosophical like that kickstarts my thinking process in the morning. But hey, I don’t mind. Not at all.
Then, when I was about to pour myself a cup of coffee, a brief comical thought flew by saying something: “Gee, the water is the greatest element on Earth. Without it, you wouldn’t be able to make yourself some coffee”. Yes, I’m secretly quite fanatical about coffee and thoughts like that sometimes occupy a very peculiar place, my mind.
And as I was drinking and savouring my coffee sip after sip, I thought and I asked myself, what makes mornings great? What makes them positive? What makes them cloudless and perfect?
I’m not ideal. And there’re so many things I don’t know. But there are simple habits that kickstart my day on a positive vibe. And I would love to share.
Simple Habits to Kickstart a Day on a Positive Vibe
1. So I say “Thank You for the Music”
Wake up with your favourite song. Keep it running in the background. I read somewhere that the most optimal thing is to put some reggae on. It lifts up the mood almost instantaneously! And when you wake up, the first thing you do is you smile. Meet every day with a smile.
Then I repeat something like “the universe is filled with positivity”. And the images to back up that mantra rush into my mind reinforcing what I just said.
When I don’t feel like listening to reggae, I put my favourite Celtic meditative music and the flow of positivity flushes the elements of something less positive out and away.
2. Visualise
When I am in the shower I make the water slightly colder, then warmer. The vitality bursts instantly. That’s when I’m ready for visualisation. It takes 2-5 minutes. Think about all the great things you wish to attract into your reality map. Feel as if you already have that. What does it feel like? Vividly imagine that with all your being. When I do that it gives me the energy to pursue my dreams. Every visualisation session gives me more insight on how to get it done, It tells me that EVERYTHING is possible as long as I move towards it…
3. Recharge
Normally I do a set of yoga asanas called Surya namaskar. It gives me energy. It gives me that sense of flow in every cell of my body. I love yoga. And for me, it is a great way to recharge. Some people prefer running session, or any other simple set of exercises – and it’s great!
4. Breakfast
Some people make a massive breakfast skipping lunch afterwards. Some people prefer smaller breakfast starting the day with a light stomach. Personally, I prefer something light and small or nothing at all, depending on the mood or how hungry I am.
I know for sure that I am a complete coffee junky. I savour every sip of it looking out of the window while I am doing that… not so much for a good and balanced breakfast, though. I’m working on it. Sometimes I drink freshly squeezed juice.
5. Nobody Knows it, But You’ve got a Secret Smile…
Every new day we are lucky to wake up and it is the greatest present, it is the greatest gift we have. And we are here to make the most of each day. It’s mostly up to us the way it turns out. But every morning from now on just do one thing for me, would you? Put on your best outfit, which is your smile, and go on to face each day with positivity that lives within you.
