7 Simple Ways to Fight Inflammation Naturally

One of the biggest health complaints around the world is inflammation, which can be caused by several different things such as a medical condition, some questionable lifestyle choices, and stress. If you are suffering from any form of inflammation, fight it naturally with these seven health hacks.

Eating Your Greens

When you look after your body, you will be able to tell the difference in yourself. You should always eat your greens, but even more so if you are suffering from any form of inflammation.

Greens, especially those leafy vegetables are full of magnesium, something that many people who suffer from inflammation do not have enough of.

Get Nuts!

Noshing down on your favorite nuts could be having an anti-inflammatory effect. Not only are nuts good for you due to the fact they contain a bunch of good stuff including omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and antioxidants, but they can also provide relief from inflammation.

Whether you choose a handful of almonds, cashews, walnuts or peanuts, picking up some nuts the next time you go grocery shopping may be more beneficial than you think.

Add Turmeric

Turmeric has been proven to work as an anti-inflammatory and so is worth investing in. You can add turmeric to many dishes including roasted vegetables, or you could even try making your very own turmeric latte.

Turmeric naturally reduces inflammation, lowers your blood sugar levels, helps your liver to detoxify, boosts your immune system and eases your digestive system – all of which help you to get to sleep faster, to sleep better, and to wake up feeling refreshed.

It may take a lot of the stuff to see a real effect though, so speak to your doctor about supplements, meanwhile adding it into your diet where you can certainly won’t hurt!

If you have an autoimmune disorder, you may want to consider following a diet plan that is aimed to reduce inflammation and alleviate some of the symptoms caused by your disorder.

Exercise Regularly

Whilst it may sound silly to exercise if you have inflammation (especially those who suffer from arthritis) the right type of exercise will actually help to reduce swelling and inflammation.

It’s all about finding the right kind of exercise for you, often low impact exercise is best for those who suffer from any form of arthritis.

Work your way up slowly, even if you don’t want to lose weight just look at getting more active – household chores count as keeping active!

De-Stressing

Stress can harm the body in more ways than you could possibly imagine, and stress can easily cause inflammation.

If you already suffer from any type of condition that causes inflammation, stress will only make this condition worse and treatment will not work as well if you are stressed. Your body will also find it harder to fight against infection and work as normal and a standard reaction to stress is inflammation in the gut.

Find a way to de-stress that works for you; work on changing what you can and worrying less about what you can’t.

I find it’s helpful to have a variety of stress management strategies. You will need to use different strategies when you are at work/school or at home. Sometimes you have more time and other times you are limited.

Try Out Yoga

Yoga is a great way to reduce stress levels; it has also been proven to lower inflammatory markers within the body.

One study found that women who undertake 75-90 minutes of yoga twice a week over a two-year period had lower levels of CRP (C-reactive protein) and interleukin-6, which are two of the main inflammatory markers within the blood.

Yoga can help with deep breathing and is a great distraction tool if you are feeling uncomfortable or in pain with your inflammation.

Sip Some Green Tea

If you enjoy a hot drink in the morning, then look no further. Instead of switching on your coffee machine, try a green tea each morning to help fight that inflammation.

Green tea is full of antioxidants which will aid in ridding you of any inflammation. You can choose many different flavors if plain green tea isn’t to your taste. Try adding honey and lemon for a tasty drink full of benefits!

Following these seven health hacks can help you in fighting your inflammation naturally. You should always seek medical advice if inflammation persists, as it could be due to an underlying condition.
