How to Master Your Mindset for Your Healthy Lifestyle

What Does a Strong Mindset Have to Do With Creating a Healthy Lifestyle?

A strong mindset and healthy habits is a fascinating topic to study, and this story summarises the steps I took to create a strong mindset to improve and upgrade my nutrition and lifestyle choices; this is a story about how tiny changes have had the most positive impact on my life and the life of my loved ones and friends, and my clients.

Not only is a strong mindset important, but positivity and focus play a huge role in how we live our lives; motivating and inspiring others is not just about self-empowerment, but also about self-discovery, for each one of us, because we all have the potential to put ourselves in charge of our thoughts.

One of my favorite mindset quotes comes from Audrey Hepburn:

“Nothing is impossible, even the word itself says I’m possible!”

No matter what the task or challenge you set yourself for, we need to start by consciously checking we are ready and in the correct frame of mind to succeed in reaching our goals.

If you analyze the answers from any of the highest sports achievers, they make a similar point in relation to success saying that the mental side of training is just as important as the physical side, and I know this applies across all areas of our lives.

When it comes to nutrition and wanting to make lifestyle changes, there really is no difference to the basic foundation of preparation work and your mental state as it would be towards fitness activities.

You might be looking to improve your digestive health, enhance your focus, trying to cut out meat or dairy, or wanting to lose weight? Whatever your goal may be, it starts with you, your thoughts and choices.

We always have a choice. We are always one decision away from a totally different life with a healthy lifestyle. We have a choice of which activities we take part in, we have a choice as to which meal to cook today, or whether we have takeout, or simply just prefer to eat cereal for every meal!

So where do we begin? The basic psychology if positive vs negative is a good starting point. I have seen it in many people over the years, and in myself as I have been learning and growing through my journey, that we can easily get stuck in a loop.

The last place we want to end up is being stuck in a negative loop. We all have up days and down days, emotions are normal and we all have mood swings, but as long as we stay focused on our goals, these issues shouldn’t hinder our progress too much.

When it comes to food, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle choices, we need to start thinking of all the great benefits we can be adding into our day. All the flavors that can be added to meals, all the delicious dishes that give us energy and make us feel great. The wide variety of ingredient options out there that we have not yet discovered.

The main point is that we start to focus on all the natural wholesome foods we can add, the fresh fragrant vegetables and fruits, the grains, the nuts, the beans, the colors, and all the goodness that comes from fresh and natural foods.

The main issue with the mindset in relation to improving your eating habits is that most people struggle because they allow themselves to focus on what they are “not allowed”. Thinking to yourself, “I can’t have this, I have to cut out that, oh no I’m going to miss out on those” – this thinking can put us into a negative mindset, by focusing on everything are “not allowed”. This ends up with us scaring ourselves and creating thoughts such as “I’m not ready, it’s too hard, or I can’t do it” and this does not get us any closer to reaching our goals.

Instead, by choosing to include a whole range of fresh natural whole foods into your day, getting excited with flavor combinations and new recipes to try rather than processed shop-bought meals, you are contributing to your health and longevity.

What is the definition of success in relation to whatever goals you may have set yourself?

It’s all about the small steps that lead to bigger change. This means that success is nothing more than a few simple disciplined practices every day, that build habits, these habits then lead you to reach your goals.

One of the biggest building blocks we can work on and a positive habit to develop is our mindset.

So think what nutrition/food/cooking/lifestyle goals do you have in mind, set a positive loop in the motion of all the amazing “good things” you can add into your day, and not let the thought of what you’re not having into your mind, because before you know it, those harmful things in your life, whether it be too much processed foods or too much high refined sugars, or too many fizzy drinks will literally fall off the table and out of your mind.

Choose to fill your day and life with real food, fresh ingredients, and deliciously nutritious meals, and before you know it those small steps you have taken have then turned into a leap of success and you’ll be motivated to keep going. This in turn encourages family and friends to jump on the positive loop, and reach their goals too!
