“If a story is in you, it has to come out.”― William Faulkner

We appreciate you, all your insights, all your stories, and questions. Speaking of questions! We’ve been receiving lots of those these past few years, thank you, and we promise that FAQ section is coming up soon too 🙂 One of the most popular questions so far was: Who’s Behind Havingtime? And we are happy to finally share this tiny yet significant story with you, today.
Who’s Behind The Scenes of Havingtime?
I, Lesya Li, am a founder of Havingtime. It started off as a microblog on Twitter, a Social Media platform I am particularly *bonkers* about. Why I hear you ask? Well, some of the most important connections were made there online and then offline in real, tangible life… Hell, my best friend (that also happens to be my ass kicker and my soulmate) reached out to me a few years ago through Twitter. Like I said, lots of meaningful connections were made there, and I used Twitter as a tool and am using it in the present moment. More on that I promise to share later.
One of my biggest loves in life is reading books… ever since childhood I loved plunging myself into the soul of authors and getting lost in the worlds they’ve created by the power of their genius imagination; it was my sweet gateway, my escapism from reality and battles with insomnia I suffer from to this date.
Yes, let me come out of a closet and publically share that I am a chronic insomniac; passionate about reading *lots* of books too! So much so, that rather than being awake and staring at the ceiling, I read instead, and, as a result, I read at least one or two books per week; I also have a habit of sharing quotes from the books that am currently reading.
That’s how I started sharing quotes on Twitter about eight years ago, and then it caught on, and more people started following and resharing those quotes and ideas. I also remember staying awake till silly o’clock in the morning, having the most amazing conversations with complete strangers from all over the world. It’s such an amazing experience – establishing new connections.
You see, all my life, which stays true to this present moment, I was passionate about establishing meaningful connections. Not just because I felt perpetually lonely, I was always fascinated with people and their stories, what drives them, and how we could learn from each other, because everyone you will ever meet knows something you don’t, and everyone is a story ready to be told.
Till this day, I am passionate about establishing meaningful connections, and so I used havingtime as a tool to do just that at first… and then, with more stories being shared on a daily basis by our guest authors and top storytellers, it grew into something far more impactful that I would have dared or hoped to imagine!
Havingtime family is growing fast, and I am so happy you are a part of it too! Thank you for being with us on this exciting journey!
You see, despite common belief, havingtime is/was never about me. It’s not about me, this I promise you. It’s about all of US. It’s about us, coming from all over the wold together and sharing our stories. We share the most heart twisting insights on overcoming the toughest life’challenges; where often we feel isolated and alone and don’t get to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s about us giving hope to one another. It’s about being here and now, present for each other, answering, sharing, finding meaning = healing.
