10 Easy Ways You Can Love Yourself More Today

You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere.

You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. –Buddha

I was one of those who wanted people to love and cherish me and when they didn’t give me that, I felt depressed. But that’s because I didn’t know what self-care was about.

You know when people break up and they feel like they’re never going to find love again? Yeah, that was me not that long ago. It was then that I felt like my world has fallen. I was in pain and wanted to change this state of mind at all costs. That’s how I turned to self-care to find healing. This is a story of how I’ve learned to love myself and why you should love yourself more too.

10 Easy Ways You Can Love Yourself More Today

1. Treat Yourself

Treat yourself to a nice relaxing bubble bath or shower. Hot showers or bath with salts are great when it comes to letting go of all daily stress. You may also get quite a few creative ideas whiles relaxing in a bathtub or taking a hot shower. Surely, there are other things like going shopping and treating yourself to a new book or taking a short trip to a place you’ve always wanted to visit. Think of self-care rituals you can do today; how would it feel to take a better care of your needs?

2. Exercise

Good exercising routine boosts your energy and sending oxygen to your tissues along with impacting your mood and improving the quality of your sleep. Whether it’s getting down to the gym or going for a walk – it’s amazing what this simple activity can do to the overall quality of your life. And if you don’t feel like going to the gym just yet, you can always get a yoga app or anything else that you prefer and see how it feels practicing at home. Take care of your body and mind every day.

3. Pick Your Meditation Practice

There are many different types of meditation such as Qi Gong, Zazen, Transcendental, Kundalini, Mindfulness and Heart Rhythm Meditation. I want to let you know that meditation is like having a bubble bath for your mind – unwinding and relaxing into the moment. Try a guided meditation or meditate to a calming music you can find on Youtube.

4. Take Breaks

When you’ve been working/focusing on one task for a while, it is a good idea to try and take a short 15 min break before deep diving into the next task – give you much needed headspace to refocus andre-energize.

5. Appreciate the Person You See in the Mirror

Wake up every morning and look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you’re beautiful because YOU ARE.

I realized that I don’t have to be perfect. All I have to do is show up and enjoy this messy, imperfect, and beautiful journey of life

6. Reach out and talk

Have someone by your side who would listen and help you through the tough times; have someone you can share your hopes and dreams and goals. Reach out to someone new, establishing the deep strong connection of love and trust.

7. Have fun

Think of all the things you’d like to do for fun, create a list and go on mini adventures, have fun! Replenish your soul with wonder and positive emotions.

8. Do what you love

Think of a hobby you’d like to take up. Hobbies are much more than pleasant pastimes, particularly for adults whose lives are often overwhelmed by enormous amounts of stress, so embark on this journey and see all the wonderful ways in which your life can be vastly improved by simply taking up a hobby.

9. #GetOutside

Not all classrooms have four walls

We all know that spending time outside is good for us and our bodies, but sometimes we forget just how important it is to maintain proper physical and mental health. And because of our hectic lives and our 9 to 5 jobs, a lot of us think that it’s too much of a hassle to find time to idly prance around a park. However, according to new studies it’s a really good idea to spend at least an hour per day outside of your living room, as it can really improve your overall health.

10. Smile Like You Mean it!

We think of our face as reflecting our internal emotions, but that linkage works both ways – we can change our emotional state by altering our facial expression! Pasting a smile on your face, even if you are consciously faking it, can improve your mood and reduce stress.

Smiling comes naturally when you’re happy, an outward expression of the joy within. In fact, the physical act of putting on a smile seems to be a mood booster.
