Avoiding caffeine altogether, along with alcohol and nicotine, helps prevent tossing and turning and helps in lessening the frequency of waking up at night. It’s also extremely important to exercise daily for at least half an hour.

Other studies conclude that less than 7–8 hours per night increases your risk of developing heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
